Understanding the importance
of being a holistic church, a church that ministers to the
"total person." Our ministries at Second Mount Vernon
seeks to be relevant and purposeful, ministering to the different
needs of the church body. As well as providing an opportunity
for active involvement, spiritual growth and nurture, and
most importantly "service" in and beyond the walls
of the church. The ultimate purpose of each ministry is to
be of service to God and God's people.

of their loved ones. We plan, prepare, and serve food for
specific families in their hour of need.

Intercessory
Prayer - Understanding that an intercessor is one
with genuine concerns for others and stands in the gap with
Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, constantly making petitions
before God on someone else's behalf. The intercessory Prayer
ministry consists of persons who are committed to interceding
in prayer for our Pastor, the Church and the community.
Music
& The Arts - We create the atmosphere of Praise
and Worship so that the Word can go forth in prepared hearts
and allow deliverance to take place in the body thru the various
presentations of Praise. They include:
- a. Divine
Expressions Dance - We strive to draw souls to
Christ by yielding ourselves as empty vessels to be filled
with the Holy Spirit. As we worship God through dance, it
is our desire to reaffirm the faith of believers, and witness
to non-believers in need, in both our local and global communities.
- b. Drama
- We spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through
theatrical presentations. We serve as a vehicle that emotionally
and intellectually stimulate people to evaluate their existence
in Christ.
- c. Sanctuary
Choir- We led the congregation in Praise and
Worship through anointed music and song.
- d. Unspoken
Word Mime - We institute the art of mime as
a way to praise and edify God, to spread the word of God
through music, emotional movement, and exude unity through
this new form of drama.
New

understanding and guidance to new converts and persons uniting
with the church through Christian experience. No member can
join any ministries with the exception of Men's Ministry and
Women Ministry without completing this class.

health and social issues that affect our church and community.
